Today’s election day – you still have time to vote!

Polls close at 7 p.m. tonight. If you need to double-check the location of your polling site, you can find it by clicking here or by calling the County Clerk’s Office at 815-334-4242. You also can vote at the new County Election Center at 410 S. Eastwood Dr. (aka Route 47), Woodstock, which is a universal polling site.

If you have a vote-by-mail ballot, it must be postmarked no later than today to be counted. You can mail it at the post office, or you can drop it in the secure 24-hour ballot drop box in front of the County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock. Again, your ballot must be dropped off no later than 7 p.m.

After polls close, you can visit the County website at www.mchenrycountyil.gov and click on the top banner to view McHenry County election results as they’re tabulated in real time.

Manufacturing Pathways hosts Talent Timeline event

About 60 members and guests participated in a fast-paced roundtable event that followed the lifecycle of career awareness and exploration activities that culminate in a person electing to join the manufacturing industry.

Six teams of presenters highlighted specific segments of career activities that begin in early elementary grades, engage students in middle school, and continue with hands-on activities through high school and college. The event recognized the many touchpoints where local industry is involved in building awareness of the career opportunities that await within manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Pathways Consortium consists of 92 manufacturing firms located in and around McHenry County, representatives from each county high school, and 42 community partner organizations; the consortium’s mission is to expand the pipeline of talent into manufacturing.

Summer farmers markets move indoors for winter

The Woodstock Farmer’s Market can be found most Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from November through April at All Seasons Orchard, 14510 Route 176 – click here for a complete schedule. And starting this weekend, the Farmers Market+ at the Dole will be moving indoors and will be open on most Sundays through April. You can find the schedule for the market, held at the Dole Mansion at 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake, by clicking here.

Not to be outdone, the Cary Farmers Market has moved to the Algonquin Township Offices, where it will be open the first and third Sunday of each month through May. And the Huntley Farmers Market will be open at various locations through the winter on the second Saturday of the month – click here to learn more.

Tickets still available for MCEDC Annual Dinner

You can still buy tickets for the McHenry County Economic Development Corp.’s annual awards dinner.

You can purchase tickets by clicking here. Individual tickets and tables of eight can be purchased, and there are still sponsorship opportunities for businesses.

The dinner takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn. The guest speaker will be Chicago Bears defensive tackle and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Dan Hampton, who played with the Bears for 12 seasons, including the 1985 Super Bowl Championship season.

McHenry County to honor veterans at annual ceremony

The observance will take place starting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 – the time of the signing of the armistice ending World War I – at the County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock. Originally a holiday to commemorate World War I’s ending, it became Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all past American servicemen.

The event includes guest speakers and representatives from the county’s Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts. Also, the McHenry County Veterans Assistance Commission will be on hand to help attending veterans learn more about the benefits they earned through their service.
