MCEDC Member Spotlight: Jonathan Kaman, Attorney at Zanck, Coen, Wright & Saladin, P.C.
For more than five decades, Zanck, Coen, Wright & Saladin, P.C. (ZCWS) has served McHenry County and the surrounding region with trusted, comprehensive legal counsel. Today, the firm continues that legacy through resolute attorneys like Jonathan Kaman, who brings both deep local roots and a passion for community-driven progress to his work and to his role on the MCEDC Board of Directors.
Jonathan began his legal career with a clear purpose: to serve individuals, families, and businesses. A graduate of Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, he trained in the prestigious Neal & Bea Smith Legal Clinic before earning his Illinois law license. After several years representing lenders in foreclosure proceedings, Jonathan founded The Kaman Law Firm, P.C. in 2015. Four years later, he merged his practice with ZCWS to offer clients access to a broader range of legal services.
Licensed in both Illinois and Wisconsin, Jonathan’s practice focuses on helping clients navigate complex challenges with clarity and confidence. Whether it is guiding a local business through a transaction, resolving a legal dispute, or advising families on estate planning, Jonathan’s approach centers on accessibility, integrity, and practical solutions.
Outside of work, Jonathan is a lifelong northern Illinois resident. When he is not in the courtroom or meeting with clients, you will find him parenting his two energetic kids, sailing on Lake Michigan, running, or restoring his 1910 home alongside his wife, Theresa.
Jonathan has served on the MCEDC Board of Directors for three years, bringing his legal expertise and community perspective to the organization’s mission of fostering economic vitality. He takes pride in being part of the search and hiring process for Executive Director Mark Piekos, a leader deeply rooted in McHenry County.
“Finding and hiring Mark was a highlight,” Jonathan shared. “It has been a privilege to work alongside someone so rooted in McHenry County. I am blessed to be part of making McHenry County an even better place to work, live, and play!”
As MCEDC continues to attract, retain, and expand businesses across McHenry County, Jonathan believes collaboration is the key to long-term success.
“Essential to living a good life is being in a community with others,” Kaman said. “The only way to see those ideals become reality is to get involved.”
As ZCWS enters an exciting new chapter, with expanded client services, innovative communication tools, and a refreshed brand, Jonathan remains focused on the same goal that drew him to law and to the MCEDC: strengthening the community he calls home.
“McHenry County has it all. In one place you can feel close to your neighbors, shopping, work, and things to do, but you can also step into one of our forest preserves and feel completely alone,” Kaman said. “People here are starting businesses, creating interesting things, and offering stellar services. Our kids are safe, well-educated, and have every opportunity to build their future right here. It is a wonderful place to live.”
