Community Collaboration, Countywide Impact

Hosted by MCEDC, the Economic Development Growth Experts (EDGE) Group brings together chamber leaders, municipal economic development professionals, and workforce partners for quarterly meetings to align strategies and advance countywide priorities. In 2025, EDGE served as a collaborative forum to address key topics, including site readiness, infrastructure, business attraction, and more, strengthening coordinated efforts to support economic growth across McHenry County.

Power of Partnership

At the heart of McHenry County’s success is collaboration. The MCEDC works alongside municipalities, businesses, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, and community organizations to move projects forward and create meaningful impact.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected McHenry County, where businesses thrive, and communities prosper.

Site Readiness & Economic
Development Grant Support

Business-Attraction

Through collaboration between the Region 1 Planning Council, the City of Marengo, the City of McHenry, MCEDC and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Regional Site Readiness Program, McHenry County secured nearly $5 million in strategic grant funding to advance long-term economic development and site readiness efforts.

This includes a $4.6 million infrastructure investment to extend water and sewer service near the I-90/IL-23 interchange in Marengo and a $120,000 planning grant to support environmental assessments at Ebel Farms in McHenry, preparing key sites for future development. Learn more about this collaborative win and its impact on McHenry County’s future growth.

Regional Collaboration
for Global Growth

Regional Collaboration for Global Growth

The Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership (GCEP) is a first-of-its-kind regional alliance uniting Chicago, McHenry County, and seven surrounding counties to elevate the region as a unified, globally competitive metro. In collaboration with World Business Chicago and the German American Chamber of Commerce Midwest, GCEP partners recently joined a 9-day trade mission to Germany, Illinois’ second-largest foreign direct investment partner, to strengthen international relationships and showcase Chicagoland as a premier destination for business expansion and investment.
