Randall Road Phase 2 receiving $8M in federal funding

The federal omnibus appropriations bill includes $8 million for the second phase of the Randall Road improvement project.
The funding, secured by Illinois Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, will help fund road and intersection improvements from Alexandra Boulevard, in Crystal Lake, to Polaris Drive and Acorn Lane, in Lake in the Hills.
Work finished last August on the first phase of the Randall Road project, which added lanes, improved flow at the intersection of Randall and Algonquin roads, added two new signalized intersections, and added pedestrian and bicycle amenities, including a pedestrian underpass and paved walkways.
Construction on the second phase is scheduled to begin in 2024.

United Way launches food delivery program with DoorDash

United Way of Greater McHenry County has partnered with DoorDash to participate in the national Ride United: Last Mile Delivery program to bring food and other essential supplies to under served people and communities.
The program, which expanded from offering rides to delivering food with the 2020 onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, will help vulnerable people such as seniors, the sick, people without close access to shopping, and those dealing with the economic impact of COVID-19.
Last year alone, DoorDash made more than 480,000 free deliveries, and has committed to delivering another 1.5 million in 2022. United Way of Greater McHenry County began delivering meals in January through a pilot program with Kids in Need of McHenry County.
