Foglia Center MCC

The Foglia Center at MCC is open!

County celebrates opening of Foglia Center at MCC

Our excitement over the opening of McHenry County College’s new Foglia Center for Advanced Technology and Innovation is hard to put into words.

The Foglia CATI, now open to students, is going to change the game for students and area manufacturers alike. Its state-of-the-art facilities will greatly expand MCC’s workforce training programs to train the next generation of skilled manufacturers and tradespeople to meet the growing needs of our area businesses.

Click here to learn more about the center and its many offerings for students.

It seems like just yesterday that we wrote about the groundbreaking, or the McHenry County Board’s wise decision to allocate a $1.69 million Advance McHenry County grant to cover more than half of the Foglia CATI’s equipment costs. Congratulations, MCC – we can’t wait to watch the Foglia Center soar!

Annual Farm Stroll showcases county’s family farms

We can think of few better ways to enjoy an autumn day than a trip through the McHenry County countryside to visit some of our wonderful family-owned farms.

The McHenry County Farm Bureau is holding its annual Farm Stroll, a free self-guided tour of its family farms, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 29. Ten family farms and one student farm are participating. Click here to find the list.

Because this is a family-friendly, self-guided tour, there is no beginning or end of the route – just choose the farms that interest you and visit them. While the event is free, bring cash to take advantage of the farmers who will be selling produce and other goods.
