Summer student manufacturing internship program a smashing success once again

Manufacturing internship program celebrates third summer of jobs

Congratulations to the high school interns who completed the Manufacturing Pathways Consortium’s Rotational Internship Program this year!

McHenry County Board Chairman Michael Buehler and County Administrator Peter Austin interviewed a panel of these distinguished young people last week at McHenry County College as they told their families and friends about their experiences working in our vibrant manufacturing industry.

Thanks in part to Advance McHenry County funding provided by the County Board, the Rotational Internship Program has provided 281 opportunities for McHenry County high school students to gain valuable workplace skills at 33 area manufacturers over the past three years.

Thank you to the consortium and MCC for making the Rotational Internship a reality. And thank you also to the Illinois Community College Board for funding this fantastic program next year through a workforce development grant!

McHenry County Treasurer Donna Kurtz, and County Clerk and Recorder Joe Tirio, partnered Aug. 6 with the Heartland Realtor Organization to hold a property tax workshop to educate the public about tax breaks and the protections that are available to them.

There was a healthy turnout, both in-person and virtual, as Donna and Joe gave an informative presentation about property taxes, the county‘s new and transparent tax bills, and county programs such as the VIP Taxpayer Program and the Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Deferral Program.
