Work starting on the McHenry County 2050 Comprehensive Plan
The Regional Planning Commission met for the first time March 3 to begin the process of crafting a 2050 Comprehensive Plan for McHenry County.
The nine-member commission, which was empaneled last month by the County Board, is tasked with developing the plan to guide decision-making and policy relating to development and land use.
McHenry County government revisits its Comprehensive Plan every 10 years, following the US Census. You can review the current plan, McHenry County 2030 and Beyond, by clicking here.
The commission intends to vote in April to hire the consulting firm to assist in its efforts, with the goal of completing the plan and having the County Board ratify it no later than the end of next year.
His primary goal is to keep the chamber’s progress rolling in tandem with the city and Real Woodstock, the partnership between city government and the chamber to promote Woodstock as a great place to live, shop, work and visit.
“The chamber, with great support from the City of Woodstock, has done some tremendous work to support our members and area businesses. The most important thing to do right now is to keep building momentum,” Ball said.
The chamber has 285 members – a number Ball said he wants to increase.
Ball takes over for Danielle Gulli, who now serves as the city’s executive director for business development.

Thank you for your McHenry County Moves 2050 feedback
The McHenry County Division of Transportation received hundreds of comments from the public and stakeholders regarding the McHenry County Moves 2050 long-range transportation plan.
You can check out this first round of feedback by clicking here.
The plan under development examines all the ways people and goods move in our region. The DOT’s goal is to create an enhanced vision for transportation in our area, and identify new solutions that will provide a wide range of safe, equitable, sustainable, and convenient travel choices in and across the county.
This isn’t the only bite at the apple when it comes to providing input – the DOT will be coming back to the public this spring and summer for another phase of engagement.
