We’d like you to meet Big AI!

In honor of the Illinois primary next Tuesday, we’d like to introduce you to Big Al.
Purchased in 2000, the ballot-sorting machine makes processing vote-by-mail ballots a lot easier for the McHenry County Clerk’s Office. How easy, you ask? Easy as in the ability to process up to 18,000 vote-by-mail ballots an hour, with the help of only one or two people.
Click on the video above to watch a brief McHenry County news clip of Big Al in action.
As a reminder, 11 early voting stations are up and running across McHenry County through next Tuesday – click here for a list of locations and hours. If you wish to vote at your polling place on June 28, click here to find your location, as well as generate a sample ballot to see your races, referendum and candidates.

MCC Foglia Center project is advancing

One of McHenry County’s first community investments through its Advance McHenry County grant program is moving forward toward construction.
McHenry County College is working with architects and the Illinois Capital Development Board on final details before they put out the bid to build the new Foglia Center for Advanced Technology.
The center, which received a $1.69 million Advance McHenry County grant in January, will provide state-of-the-art facilities to greatly expand MCC’s workforce training programs. The construction bid is expected to be put out in the next few weeks, with ground on the 41,000-square-foot facility anticipated to be broken in the fall.

Wonder Lake Water Ski Team going strong after 60 years

It’s hard to put the show put on by the talented daredevils of the Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team into words. You just have to see it for yourself.
For more than 60 years, the team has dazzled audiences with free shows on Wonder Lake every Friday night between the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The team, ranging in age from young children to senior citizens, entertains audiences of all ages, and is a force to be reckoned with at national championship tournaments.
Shows are free to the public, but the team actively seeks, and appreciates, donations to cover its expenses.
