McHenry County joins regional economic partnership

McHenry County is a proud member of a new economic initiative to market Chicagoland’s collective strengths to increase economic prosperity across the entire region.

The Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership, which officially launched last week, unites Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, and Will Counties and the City of Chicago into an alliance to promote regional economic development and enhance our collective participation in the global economy.

This innovative partnership seeks to strengthen the area’s global competitiveness by leveraging the area’s diverse talent, advanced infrastructure, and renowned institutions and industries to further cement the area’s reputation as a global hub for business, and drive economic growth and prosperity in McHenry County and the entire Chicagoland area.

McHenry County represents on Illinois float at Rose Bowl parade

In case you missed it, McHenry County’s very own American Idol finalist Grace Kinstler represented Illinois on its float at the Tournament of Roses Parade, where she sang her new single, “Leo”!

Applications open for Advance McHenry County summer internships

Applications are open to participate in the Summer 2023 Rotational Internship Program!

The 10-week paid internship program is open to all McHenry County high school students, age 16-18, who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing or engineering.

Students will be paired with local manufacturers and be paid $16 an hour while gaining invaluable work experience in an exciting and lucrative field. No previous work experience is necessary. Last year’s launch of the program, funded through a $717,300 grant through the Advance McHenry County program, was a resounding success.

County clerk seeking election judges for April 3 election

The McHenry County Clerk’s Office is looking for people willing to serve as election judges for the upcoming April 3 consolidated election.

Offices up for election April 4 include nonpartisan positions for bodies that determine the vast majority of residents’ property tax bills, including school boards, city councils and village boards, park district boards, library boards, police and fire commissions, community college boards of trustees, and other special purpose districts.


 

Woodstock asks residents to participate in growth, branding surveys

The City of Woodstock is seeking residents’ input on two initiatives to define the city’s future growth and development, and how it communicates with residents and visitors.

Woodstock is in the process of drafting a 20-year comprehensive plan, as well as a branding and identity campaign for the city to stand out in the marketplace and increase interest and investment in the community.

Residents are being asked to take two brief surveys to gauge their attitudes and opinions on these issues, and they can find them by clicking here.


 

Huntley’s Polar Fest postponed to Feb. 18

Cold weather enthusiasts are welcome to come to Huntley Park District’s Polar Fest – but they’ll have to wait another month on account of the fact that it’s not particularly polar outside right now.

The event was takes place from noon to 3 p.m. this Saturday at the Park District, 12015 Mill St. Organizers have now rescheduled it for Saturday, Feb. 18.

Activities include children’s games, crafts, a s’more station, ice sculpting, dog sled racing, ice skating and a sled hill (weather permitting), and others. The event is free to the public, but some activities have costs.
