Woodstock wins a $3M T-Mobile 5G ‘tech-over’

Congratulations to the City of Woodstock for winning a nationwide contest for a $3 million technology makeover from T-Mobile!
T-Mobile will outfit a portion of the city – most likely the Square – with 5G wireless infrastructure. On top of that, the city won $200,000 in grant money, and T-Mobile will refurbish a baseball diamond in one of Woodstock’s city parks. And the cherry on top of the sundae of prizes will be a spring concert by Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum country duo Florida Georgia Line.
Woodstock beat out thousands of other towns for the inaugural T-Mobile Hometown Techover, and already had received $50,000 in grants for being named a top 10 finalist in the spring.
City leaders are hopeful that the 5G infrastructure will become a basis for future expansion of the network to other parts of town. This foundation, like the laying of high-speed fiber between McHenry County College and Woodstock through the McHenry County Broadband Fiber Network Consortium, can only serve to help expand our economic base and expand job opportunities.
Again, congratulations, Woodstock!

Please get vaxxed to protect yourself against COVID-19

On Monday, Governor Pritzker reimposed an indoor mask mandate to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 delta variant, which is responsible for the steady increase in new cases and hospitalizations.
People who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are accounting for the vast majority, by far, of new COVID hospital admissions.
Resume McHenry County was created early into the lockdowns last year to not only help our businesses and job creators survive the pandemic and rebuild but also to ensure that they reopened in the smartest and safest way possible. We’ve come so far, and a step backward isn’t anything that anyone wants to see.
Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself against COVID-19. To find a vaccination location near you, please visit vaccines.gov.
As a reminder, if you’re a business owner, you can bring the vaccine to your employees by hosting a vaccination clinic through the McHenry County Department of Health. You can apply by completing the “Request a Clinic” form available on the MCDH’s COVID-19 Vaccine Locations page, which you can find by clicking here.

Great Outdoors Beer Trail sold out

With the lifting of COVID-19 capacity restrictions earlier this year, Resume McHenry County is featuring the return of its iconic attractions, and the founding of new ones.
You snooze for brews, you lose.
The inaugural Great Outdoors Beer Trail, set for Saturday, Sept. 25 at the McHenry County Conservation District’s Fel-Pro RRR property in Cary, is sold out. However, you can click here to get on a waitlist should more tickets become available.
The festival is a mile-long trail of live music, games, snacks sold by local food trucks, and hence the name, 18 craft breweries from McHenry County and northeastern Illinois.
If you missed out on a ticket, the good news is that you don’t need tickets to an MCCD open space in order to enjoy craft beer and distilled spirits year-round from McHenry County‘s many artisan craft brewers and distilleries. If you thirst for great, locally crafted beer and spirits, visit www.visitmchenrycounty.com/breweries for a list to get your tasting adventure started!
