MCYSA Baseball Championship returning to Crystal Lake

Play ball! The McHenry County Youth Sports Association’s Summer International Baseball Championship is back!
More than 60 teams from across the country – and from as far away as Puerto Rico, Mexico and Japan – will descend on McHenry County’s baseball fields from July 15 to July 24. The annual tournament provides youth teams an opportunity to play world-class baseball on fields across McHenry County, and for spectators to experience it – there’s no cost to watch the games or attend the events.
There are two scheduled sessions: July 15 to July 18, and July 21 to July 24. Opening ceremonies for both take place July 15 and July 21 at 7 p.m. at Lippold Park, 851 Route 176, Crystal Lake, and will include a parade of teams, fireworks, and a ceremonial first pitch.
Visit the MCYSA website or check them out on Facebook. Schedules will be posted as they are firmed up.

Watch this video to understand the assessment process

Assessment – the process by which the value of property is determined for the purpose of levying property taxes – is complicated.
McHenry County Chief Appraiser Alex Benitez gave an informative and engaging presentation to the County Board at its Committee of the Whole meeting on June 16 to explain, in layman’s terms, how assessments and property taxes are calculated.
Click on the video to watch the 20-minute clip; if you have questions about the presentation, or property taxes in general, please call the Assessments Office at 815-334-4290.
