Workforce Network, MCC hosting Disability Job Fair

The McHenry County Workforce Network and McHenry County College are again teaming up with the State of Illinois to help people with disabilities get into the workforce or find new jobs.
The Disability Job Fair, which is free and open to job seekers with any type of disability, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 27, at the MCC Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry.
Job seekers should dress like they would for a job interview, and bring copies of their resume to network with county employers who will be there, and ready to hire.

Upcoming sessions educate about job retraining opportunities

The high-demand trades of truck driving, manufacturing, and medical care are hungry for skilled workers.
The McHenry County Workforce Network is holding informational sessions to learn about no-cost training opportunities through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
The sessions cover commercial driver’s license training on April 11, manufacturing on April 18, and medical training on April 25. All sessions take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Workforce Center, 500 Russel Court, Woodstock.
The events are free and walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged; you can RSVP by contacting Jake Rohn at JMRohn@mchenrycountyil.gov or by calling 815-334-2785.

McHenry County government is hiring!

McHenry County government is always on the lookout for hard-working, talented employees.
The county offers great wages and benefits, and last year was named by Engaging Local Government Leaders, a national professional organization, as one of the best governments to work for in the US.

Advance McHenry County funding food pantries, deliveries for needy

A $825,000 grant through the Advance McHenry County program will purchase goods for area food pantries, and help fund a new United Way of Greater McHenry County program for home food delivery for needy families.
The award to the Northern Illinois Food Bank will purchase needed food that is not commonly donated, which in turn will be distributed to McHenry County food pantries. It also will help fund a partnership between the United Way of Greater McHenry County and DoorDash to participate in the national Ride United: Last Mile Delivery program to bring groceries to under served people and communities.

Nominations open for McHenry County Educator of the Year

The McHenry County Regional Office of Education is looking for nominees for its annual Educator of the Year Awards.
Nominations can be made by anyone for the nine categories of preschool teacher, elementary teacher, middle school teacher, high school teacher, school administrator, student support personnel, early-career teacher, educational service personnel, and private/parochial school employee.
Nomination letters can be emailed to Regional Superintendent Diana Hartmann at DKHartmann@mchenrycountyil.gov. Winners will be honored at an awards dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Holiday Inn Crystal Lake; tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
