Richardson Farm corn maze celebrates 60 years of James Bond

The name’s Bond. James Bond.

Richardson Adventure Farm’s famous corn maze pays tribute this year to the 60th anniversary of the James Bond movie franchise, which began with Sean Connery in “Dr. No” in 1962. Visitors will navigate a maze featuring five actors who played the iconic role, a Monaco casino, a Bond girl, and of course, Bond’s beloved Aston Martin.

It’s already generating some well-deserved Chicago and national media buzz.

The maze is just one of many family-friendly amenities and adventures at the Spring Grove farm, which opens for the season on Sept. 10. Be sure to follow the Richardson Adventure Farm on Facebook and Instagram for updates, and visit their website to see everything the farm has to offer!

Sorry to all you James Bond completists, but the maze does not include George Lazenby, whose sole film playing 007 was “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.”

Don’t miss the disability job fair and employer workshop

Once again, the McHenry County Workforce Network is teaming up with McHenry County College and the State of Illinois to host two events to connect workers with disabilities with employers looking to hire.

The first is a Sept. 28 workshop for employers, which will cover the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities, as well as state and local incentives and resources. The second is an Oct. 5 disability job fair for people with disabilities to meet employers ready to hire.

Employers can click here to register for the workshop, and click here to be included at the job fair. These will come up before you know it, so sign up soon! Job seekers do not have to register to attend the job fair.

We’ll be including reminders for both events in upcoming editions of Resume McHenry County, so stay tuned.

McHenry County 2050 Plan needs your input

If you care about how McHenry County will grow, develop and conserve over the next three decades, you need to take the survey on the 2050 Comprehensive Plan and let your voice be heard!

Your opinion matters. Check out the short video above to see why.

The Comprehensive Plan serves as a blueprint for McHenry County’s future by setting policies to direct growth and development for the next 30 years. The plan addresses nine key areas of land use, housing, economic development, agricultural resources, transportation and mobility, community facilities and infrastructure, natural resources and active recreation, green infrastructure and water resources, and historic resources.

The website through which to submit comment can be found by visiting hla.fyi/McHenryCounty. Visitors can take a survey, and use an interactive map tool to create their own map to highlight issues in McHenry County that they feel would impact the Comprehensive Plan.

Please take a few minutes and take the survey before the Sept. 30 deadline. Don’t miss out!

American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall coming to Harvard

An emotional and profound tribute to America’s military, and its fallen soldiers, is coming to Milky Way Park in Harvard.

The Harvard Chamber of Commerce is bringing the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall – all 211 panels of it – from Sept. 8 to Sept. 11 to Milky Way Park, 300 Lawrence Road, Harvard.

The wall pays tribute to fallen soldiers from the Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars, plus the victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and includes informational panels on wars and military actions since World War I.

The chamber is looking for volunteers to help people find names, watch the exhibit at night, and offer other assistance. To volunteer, click here.
