Capacity restrictions are history!

Is there a better way of celebrating summer travel season than watching pandemic capacity and social distancing restrictions recede in the rear-view mirror?
On Friday, the state lifted the last of the restrictions first put in place 15 long months ago to slow the spread of COVID-19. Our businesses, events, venues and amusements are free to operate at full capacity. Fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear masks except if they are taking mass transit or visiting hospitals, day care facilities, or a handful of other congregate settings. You can read the new state guidance for businesses and venues by clicking here.
This final phase of the state’s COVID-19 response is called “Illinois Restored.” However, that’s something of a misnomer; like any disaster, there’s a lot of cleanup to do, and Resume McHenry County isn’t going to rest until our business community is back, stronger than ever.
One way you can help is by giving McHenry County businesses an economic shot in the arm by staying local for summer fun and leisure – the lead article in this week’s edition will help you find just about anything you and your family are looking for. And yes, we know we sound like a broken record, but the other vital way you can do your part is to get vaccinated to make sure the COVID-19 restrictions stay in the rear-view mirror.
If you’re a business looking for workers, or a job seeker looking for work, keep reading to learn about some wonderful local – and free – assets to help you!

It’s still important to VAX UP!

If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, and you have no medical reason to not receive it, what are you waiting for? The vaccine is safe, it’s effective, and it’s very easy to get.
The McHenry County Department of Health has partnered with Curative, a COVID-19 healthcare service, to oversee operations at the county mass vaccination site in McHenry.
The McHenry site, at 1900 N. Richmond Road, operates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Vaccinations are free, but people with health insurance will be asked to provide information when scheduling an appointment; people without insurance will not be denied vaccination.
While the McHenry clinic will still take walk-in vaccinations, appointments are preferred.
To schedule an appointment through Curative for either the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine, visit http://bit.ly/MCDHCOVIDVaxLoc, or call the county’s COVID-19 Call Center at 815-334-4045. The website also lists ways to get vaccinated through private pharmacies and other entities; please choose whichever method is quickest and easiest for you.
And if you’re homebound for medical reasons, the MCDH may be able to bring the vaccine to you. Call the MCDH Call Center at 815-334-4045 to find out more, and make arrangements for a home visit if you qualify.

“Together Again” at Algonquin Founders’ Days

With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, Resume McHenry County will continue to highlight the return of McHenry County’s iconic attractions.
We can’t think of a better name for a summer festival than this year’s theme for Algonquin Founders’ Days – “Together Again.”
After a year of lockdowns, capacity restrictions and social distancing, a celebration bringing us all back together – one of many gracing McHenry County this summer – is just what the doctor ordered. And a doctor’s order that doesn’t involve quarantine is very, very much appreciated.
The 59th annual event, scheduled for July 22-25, includes live music, family events, food and drink, and of course, the Founders’ Day Parade.

We hope we got your attention. We need your help reaching more McHenry County residents and businesses to share this important information about the COVID-19 response and connect them with vital resources.
