Advance McHenry County web page opens to applications
The Advance McHenry County webpage is open to educate the public about the program, and to receive funding applications from qualified agencies!
Advance McHenry County, created by the McHenry County Board, is designed to put $59.7 million in federal COVID-19 relief funding to work in the community. Of the nearly $30 million set to be distributed in the first phase, $14 million will be allocated to environment and infrastructure projects, $8 million will be allocated to workforce development and jobs programs, and $3 million each will be set aside for special districts and non-profits. Funding recipients will be selected based on how they meet an established set of criteria.
You can visit the website for more information, or
click here to watch a brief video by County Board Chairman Mike Buehler explaining the program.
The website does more than collect applications and allow applicants to submit questions – it also serves as an accountability and transparency portal to allow the public to track how the money is allocated.
McHenry County is hosting town-hall meetings for eligible groups to explain the program and get their questions answered. Two town-hall meetings for governments and not-for-profit agencies will be held at 3 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, and two meetings for infrastructure and workforce applicants will be held at 3 and 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15. All of the meetings are being held at the McHenry County Mental Health Board, 620 Dakota St., Crystal Lake.
Attendees can choose which of the meetings they attend, but must register in advance – they can do so
by clicking here. Attendance at one of the meetings is not a mandatory prerequisite to apply for Advance McHenry County funding.
